My role is mostly clinical in our practice. I have a dedicated room set up from which to work. For me this reflects the value on the primary health care role of the nurse in our practice...not just a general "dogs body" person! We do have another person ( I call her a nurse assistant) who works from our treatment room. This person has many demands on her time...performing all sorts of tasks/functions/roles...a very valuable part of our team...much appreciated.

In reference to the nurses' care of the distressed patient...I think she acted appropiately. Our surgeries are becoming a little like a mini casualty and we do need to learn on the job responses..sometimes on the "hop"...for all the training in the world...I am sure experience is the best. Team work is the key...re=evaluating our care and learning from this...discussions at staff meetings where appropiate.
